WAFU Zone B u17 – Ghana 5-1 Cote D; Ivoire, Black Starlets Coast over baby Elephants in Grand style

Laryea Kingston began his National team experience as the Coach of the National U17 team, the Black Starlets with a commanding win against neighbors Ivory Coast in the opening game of the 2024 WAFU Zone B Championship.

The Black Starlets who have failed to qualify for the FIFA World cup since 2017 went straight into action from the blast of the referee whistle when attacking enforcer Joseph NARBI and his team took the gam to the opponent.

The Starlets scored 2 clearer goals in the 25th and 29th minutes through Joseph Narbi going into the first half holding the lead.

The Starlets returned to the second half with a much more determined game, drawing the first ‘blood’ in the 48th minute through Michael Sarpong.

The Ivorians, who had lifted their game after conceding the third goal, got a goal back in the 50th minute.

But the Black Starlets proved too strong, and went ahead with 2 more goals in the 53rd and 90th minutes with Harve Gbafa and Mark Kagawa Mensah finishing off in grand style to end the game on a high note.
