Asante Kotoko returns to Ghana after Capital City Cup without 2 Sudanese ‘Stowaways’

A contingent of 5 players and 3 officials of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have landed at the Kotoka International Airport after participating in the in the 2024 Capital City cup in Washington DC.

The former Ghana Champions who were a subject of controversy after the US embassy denied visas to a large number of the players for the competition.

The Kotoko contingent returned to Ghana without their 2 Sudanese players who accompanied the team to the trip.

The two players Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub left the hotel where the team was camping in Springfield, Virginia on Friday before the team’s last training for the Capital City cup.

A statement from the club confirmed the two players were not found at the time the team embarked on their return journey back to Accra.

The club reported the matter to the Fairfax county Police who are currently investigating the location of the players.
