The confederation of African Football has opened investigations into alleged ill treatment to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Libya
A statement on the website of CAF said they have been in contact with both Libya and Nigeria authorities regarding the situation, and therefore referred the matter to the disciplinary board for investigations.
The statement of CAF read:
“The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has been in contact with the Libyan and Nigerian authorities after it had been informed that the Nigerian National Football Team (‘’Super Eagles’’) and their technical team were stranded in disturbing conditions for several hours at an airport that they were allegedly instructed to land by the Libyan authorities.”
“The matter has been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for investigation and appropriate action will be taken against those who violated the CAF Statutes and Regulations.”
Members of the Nigerian National team were left stranded in a Libyan Airport for more than 12 hours, after they were instructed to land in a different airport, the Super Eagles were in the country for the return leg of their 2025 AFCON qualifier
