The Black Stars of Ghana recorded its worst year on year performance in 2024 falling 10 places low in in the FIFA Coca-Cola Men’s ranking.
The Stars who won only 2 matches in the year under review lost significant points from their accumulated build up.
The 4 times Africa Champions who began 2024 ranked 67th, ended the year 10 places down to 77th to record its second worst performance since March 2005 When the team was ranked 79th Worldwide.
Having appeared 4 times at the FIFA world cup since 2006, the Black Stars have gone through terrible periods over the last 5 years with 3 AFCON failures in 2019, 2022, and 2024, the team failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON Championship to be staged in Morocco, and are currently ranked outside the top 10 teams in Africa.
At the height of 14th ranked world wide in 2008, and Africa’s number 1, the team have failed to live up to its performance over the last 5 years, having changed 5 coaches in the process, and an inconsistent management.
The Black Stars have also lost some significant points after they failed to win a single home game in the AFCON Qualifiers falling from 1439 points to 1321 points.
