A former minister under the Akufo Addo administration has been arrested by the Sunyani Police for his involvement in the death of Asante Kotoko Supporter during a Ghana Premier League match.
Ignatius Baffour Awuah, who is the owner of premier League club Nsoatreman FC was picked by the police in the early hours of Monday February 3.
The former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West has been fingered in the death of the Supporter for inciting fans to attack the victim.
Violence broke out between supporters of Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko in during their week 19 Ghana Premier League match played at the Nana Kronmansah Sports Stadium in Nsoatre.
Asante Kotoko Supporter Nana Francis Frimpong also know as Nana Pooley was stabbed to death during match in which Asante Kotoko lose by 1-0.
The Ghana Football Association has subsequently suspended the league, and called for stakeholder engagements are mitigating the issues
