Tears in Accra as Thousands Protest Black Stars AFCON Failures

Thousands of Ghanaians from all walks of life walked the streets of Accra in protests of the failure of the Black Stars at the just ended AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast

The demonstration, dubbed ‘Save Ghana Football is targeted at the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association, the principal managers of the National Team

Led By Sports Journalists Saddick Adams  of Angel Broadcasting network, Patrick Osei Agyemang, aka Country Man Songo of the Multimedia Group, Atta Poku of Sompa FM in Kumasi, and many others, the Protesters marched from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Independence square where a petition was read to the gathering

The Protestors carried placards with inscriptions that  expressed their anger at the managers of Ghana Football and the Government of Ghana. Some of the placards read’ Use World Cup Revenue to develop Football, Its not Government Money’  ‘Government must pay all National Team Coaches’ ‘We didn’t have Messi and Ronaldo when we won 4 AFCONS’  ‘ NSA fix our stadium’ etc

The Protestors also included the elderly who managed to make the long distance walk which lasted over 5 hours.

The convenors of the demonstration presented  their petition to the Minister of Youth and Sports, and the speaker of Parliament
