News In – Asante Kotoko faces demotion from Ghana Premier League for failing Club License Requirements

Premier League side Asante Kotoko is at risk of losing their premier league license from the Ghana Football Association have breaches several requirements in the Club License Regulations of the Ghana Football Association.

The 24 times champions of the Ghana League will have their license to play in the top flight of the Ghanaian domestic Competition and any future CAF interclub competition if they fail to fulfill the requirements stipulated in the Club Licensing Regulation.

Having gone virtually all season without a constituted board of Directors, the club have breached article 14.3. (D) of the club Licensing Relations, a breach which punishment is a loss of the License to play in any CAF interclub competitions and National competitions.

The Club License introduced in Ghana by the Football Governing body requires clubs to meet a 3 category grading system before passing to play in the domestic league.

Article 4.1 which consist of the A Criteria requires clubs to meet an allocated minimum criteria, the absent of which is enough for the association to refuse the applicant the license to play in a competition organized by the association or the continental body

For close to a YEAR, the club is under the control of an interim Management Committee, a clear breach of Article 4.1 and Article 14.3.(d)  of the Club Licensing Regulations

4.1 ‘A’ Criteria – ‘MUST’: If the license application does not
fulfill any ‘A’ criteria it cannot be granted a license to enter CAF interclub and national club competitions;

14.3 ACCOMPANYING COMPANY REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS
The applicant shall submit;
a. copy of the Company Regulations
b. certificate of incorporation
c. certificate to commence business
d. names of shareholders, directors and management officials
of the club, registered place of business and address

If the GFA acts upon the regulations of the Club licensing regime, Asante Kotoko will lose their premier League License, and the right to compete in any organized competition in the Country.
