The newly magnificent stadium built by the government of Ghana for the 2023 Africa games will be home to the 2024 MTN FA cup final.
Chairman of the Competitions committee Mr Wilson Arthur told Akoma FM in Kumasi the stadium is a perfect place to host Ghana’s second most prestigious football competition.
Mr Wilson Arthur said the having changed the venue of the semi final from Tarkwa Stadium, and the decision to forego the Nsenkyire park in Samraboi, the committee is firm on holding the finals at the Legon Stadium
“After further discussions, we changed our original plan to hold the semi-finals and finals at the newly constructed Tarkwa TNA Stadium and Legon Stadium, respectively. However, the TNA stadium was not ready” Mr Wilson Arthur said.
‘We thought about going to Samarboi, but after some consultations, we decided that going to the Volta would be more helpful, so we went back to our backup plan, which was Sogakope. However, the Legon Stadium has been selected to host this year’s finals. We would like to choose that location for the competition’s semifinal and final rounds going forward, pending exco approval” he added.
The FA cup competition determines Ghana’s representative for the CAF confederation cup.
Defending champions Dreams FC reached the Confederation cup semi final, and are hoping to defend their trophy, having qualified foe the semi finals. .
