Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that the Ghana Football Association spent $3,070,067.81 at the just ended AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast
The Minister, who appeared before the Parliament of Ghana to deliver his report on the AFCON in Ivory Coast confirmed that the Ghana Football Association presented a budget of $8,506,450.00 for the tournament
The Minister said, the Finance ministry released a sum of $5,071,840.36 for the tournament, the money according to the minister was to cover per diems for the players, officials, and management of the Black Stars, flights to the competition, medicals, equipment, logistics and other hospitality activities.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif told Parliament they returned the remaining US$2,001,772.55 to the coffers of the state
The minister also aanounced that MTN Ghana gave team an additional $400,000, which he said “contributed immensely in complimenting Government’s expenditure”.
