Kufour lives, Cup stays, Asante Kotoko smash Nsoatreman FC to lift maiden Kufour cup

Asante Kotoko defeated fellow premier league side Nsoatreman FC with 2 clearly goals in the second half of the maiden Kufour cup held at the babayara Stadium in Kumasi.

The porcupine Warriors who were playing their first competitive game since December 2023 when the Ghana Premier League went on Christmas Break had to endure a 20 minute drama where both teams appeared stripes with similar colours, before having to change to their white stripe to allow a more decent game

It was  the visitors who opened the scoring at the dying minutes of the game when Abdul Rahman eat goalkeeper Frederick Asare in goal

The fabulous boys returned from the break with a more determined approach to the game lifting the intensity of the game and restored parity with just 10 minutes into the second half, Ugandan attacker Steven Mukwala connected perfectly to Lamptey’s pinpoint kick from the corner in the 57th minute.

Five munities  after Asante Kotoko equalized, Nsoatreman FC were awarded a penalty after when Nurudeen Mohammed committed a foul in the penalty area, but the resulting kick from Abdul Manaf was saved by goalkeeper Asare.

With a quarter of game time remaining, Asante Kotoko took the lead when Peter Amide received Lamptey’s measured pass from midfield and shot first-time

Nsoatreman FC fought back to get at level but a more determined Asante Kotoko side proved resolute to keep their opponents at bay to win the game by 2-1
