Laryea Kingston eats Humble pie on Black Starlets WAFU B failure…..maintain words on resignation

Former Black Stars Midfielder and the immediate past coach of Ghana U17 male National team Laryea Kingston has apologized to Ghanaians for failing to win the WAFU B 17 Championship.

In a statement addressing matter arising out of his announced resignation from the Team, Laryea Kingston expressed his appreciation to Ghanaians for the support and prayers offered to him and his team during the competition.

“I have been overwhelmed by the support, prayer, and well wishes this current GhanaU17 team has generated in the media and the public discourse. I realized that the reasons for the immense support have largely ben because of the work the technical team, which I am privileged to lead this past 7 months, out playing style, and the commitment of the players to change the narrative about Ghana’s  U17 team recent history”

Laryea Kingston who announced he was resigning from his position at the end of the WAFU B U17 tournament which Ghana hosted issues an unreserved apology to the Ghanaian people for failing to win the competition

“I apologize unreservedly for our failure to pay back the trust, love, and support we have graciously received from Ghanaians, we worked very hard for several weeks for the chance to reach the finals of the WAFU tournament to compete for the ultimate prize, but it was not to be” he added.

Laryea Kingston also apologized for his conduct after the Black Starlets defeat to Burkina Faso, insisting he could have done things differently, in his statement, he stressed expressed regressed and believes the experience will serve as guiding principle for his development

“Concerning any other issue about my personal  conduct, with suggestions that I abandoned the tea following  last Saturday’s semi final defeat to Burkina Faso, I state unmistakably, that my announcement during the post match press conference was without ambiguity that my role as coach with the team ends after the tournament, I will not conduct myself in anyway that undermines the respect and support Ghanaians have given me and this team” He added that, “After careful consideration, I could have handled things better and this will be guiding experience for me going forward”.

Laryea Kingston was appointed head coach of the Black Starlets IN April 2024 having been assistant to Karim Zito from 2023
