The Federation of International Football Associations [FIFA] has exposed the Ghana Football administration over claims that over 80 Football pitched have been developed to meet international standard requirements in Ghana.
A FIFA report claimed the Ghana FA has maintained 80 Natural Grass pitch all over Ghana for Clubs in both men and Women clubs to use.

In 2021, FIFA approved over $1 million dollars for the Ghana to the Ghana FA for the development of the Domestice competitions, a Portion of  the funds were approved to be used for the maintenance of 80 pitches for Premier, Women, Division One and other Regional fame centres across Ghana.

But the GFA diverted the funds for other use, and failed to maintain the pitches leading to Ghana’s inability to host a CAF Category 3 match a Situation that had seen Ghana looking alternative venues for the AFCON 2025 Qualifiesrs outside of the country.

In 2021 The GFA reported that it has gone through the various laid down stages to finally receive the green light for the implementation of the project which will consist of 80 boreholes across the country with beneficiaries from the Premier League, Division One League, Women’s Premier League and some Game Centres of Regional Associations.

FIFA in its latest report claimed the  Forward program has also helped in the maintenance of natural grass pitches at 80 venues in Ghana, with Women’s Premier League and women’s regional clubs among the beneficiaries, and the purchase of footballs for youth and regional development football. The latter project has helped regional women’s teams where many of the U-20 national team began playing.

The FIFA Forward is built to provide 360-degree, tailor-made support for football development in each of our member associations and the six confederations and is based on three principles: of more investment, more impact and more oversight.

The aim is to improve the way we develop and support football across the globe so that football can reach its potential in every single country, and everyone who wants to take part can do so without barriers.
