WAFU B U17 – Ghana 2-3 Nigeria, Flying Eaglets wing their way high past Starlets in battle of the Skies.

The Flying Eaglets of Nigeria won for themselves the Bronze Medal of the 2024 WAFU B U17 when they defeated the Black Starlets of Ghana in the 3rd place Playoff.

The Nigerians announced their preparedness of winning the battle when they scored within 8 minutes of kick-off with Imrana Muhammad scoring from close range

The Black Starlets. Who came into the game without their substantive coach, Laryea Kingston, who resigned after their semi final lose to Burkina Faso lifted their game, and got the equalizer on the 19th minute with Harve Gbafa soared high to nod home from a corner kick.
The Starlets did not rest from there and got the lead in the 28th minute

Tsivanyo was fouled on the right corner side of the Nigerian defense. He opted to take the kick himself, and his kick was met with a slide kick from Harve Gbafa for the second goal.
The Ghanaian side could not hold unto the lead and allowed their Nigerian opponents to score late into the first half with Abdulmuiz Adeleke jumping high to head home from a kick that came through
The w sides returned to the second half with fresh energies in anticipation to get the Match winner, but both sides labored in vain for the entire 45 minutes. However, it was the Flying Eaglets who smiled last with a beautifully taken shot in the 92nd minute from Abdulmuiz Adeleke who bagged his brace to end the dreams of the Black Starlets getting any chance of qualifying to the Africa U17 championship
